High Hearts is a group that helps non-profit  Horse Rescue organizations. We do this by conducting fundraisers and collecting donations. We then take our profits and either give them straight to the rescue or use the money to buy items for the rescue.Our Group is Helping:

Sponsoring:

The cost to feed a horse for a day is approxamatley $ 10.00. Then if you add the cost of veterinary and farrier bills, it cost up to $ 35.00 a month to keep a horse at the rescue. Bills can be higher if the horse is sick. So, we have decided to start a sponsor program. It only costs $ 15.00 a month to sponsor. All of the money then goes straight to the rescue. They will use the money for feed, vet bills, farrier bills, and other much needed supplies. In return, you will get the name of a horse you are helping and information about it. So, why aren't you already a sponsor? Just e-mail us at:

Horse of the month:

Destiny's Victory

  This is Destiny. He was born May 6, 2005 at 10:30 PM. When his Mom came to us, we had no idea that she was in foal. We found out for sure in March when we had blood work done. We didn't know what Mom was bred to so Destiny was definitely a surprise but a happy one. He is healthy and strong and is already developing a little mind of his own.

We picked this name after days of pondering. It really was easy once we thought about how he got here. Dottie(his mom)was purchased by a caring woman at an auction in LeRoy, NY for so she wouldn't go to slaughter. Dottie has a badly injured left front leg and it will remain crooked meaning she will be nothing more than a pasture puff. When the woman that had her could not put her out with the other horses, she decided to keep her in a horse trailer for safety reasons. That's where we come in. A neighbor called the Sheriff's Dept. and they called us. We took Dottie sight unseen. At first she was very scared and would kick out when ever anyone approached her rear end. After months of handling she has made tremendous progress in her attitude towards people. All this work was necessary because we knew the baby was coming and if she needed help during delivery, she had to trust so that no one would get hurt. It was Destiny that the chain of events that caused her to come to us and it was a great Victory over the kill buyers that frequent these auctions, hence the name Destiny's Victory. We'll probably call him Desi for short.

 

***High Hearts has just recieved some very sad news. Desi has recently passed away. Mike went out to check on the horses during the night and Desi had gotten caught up in the stall wall. Mike called the vet, but knew there was nothing they could do. We send the rescue our sorrow and pain and wish the best for Dottie, who still calls out to Desi at times.***
